The Role Of Marriage In The Bible

Decent Essays
Throughout the Bible it is seen that God has given each individual callings to comply with such as bearing children, taking dominion over the land, and spreading his word. God called Adam and Eve to work and establish vocations in his creation. He told them in Genesis 1:27-28, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the each and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” After the fall from grace with God, Adam and Eve must work in their vacation, which is contaminated with sin. In todays society we see that work is not always each, enjoyable, or fulfilling. As a nurse my calling is to help and heal people, but that is not always the case due to the …show more content…
God gave humans the gift and that capacity to be relational to one another, and commit to each other through marriage. Veith tells us, “Marriage is a tangible manifestation of the relationship between Christ and the Church, through only Christian couples, through the eyes of faith, will be able to glimpse how this is so (p.80).” This means that marriage is a substantial display of our relationship with God, and we should demonstrate the same love and compassion and God offers to us. My Christian worldview is that a wife is to treat her husband as her neighbor, and fulfill her calling by serving and loving her husband. Marriage is to mirror the image of Christ and the Church, with specific roles that the husband and wife and obligated to …show more content…
First, I will face many temptations through my work as a nurse, because of the patients I will encounter. Some patients do not have the word of God in their hearts, and it will be difficult to care for people who truly live in sin. It is important that I implement compassionate care for these patients and show them grace, as God has shown me. Therefore, I must know and understand how to deliver the word of Christ through individualized Bible readings. It is important that I tailor the scripture to the issues that the individual patient is experiencing, because all people are hurting in different ways. Another aspect of relationships that I will overcome with guidance from my Christian worldview is complications of marriage. One day I will be married, and I will be faced with relationship and financial complicates with my spouse. Therefore, my Christian worldview will provide me with communication skills and scripture to decrease the trials that I experience in my marriage. Ultimately, my Christian worldview will provide me with many resources for handling problems within my marriage and professional

Veith states, “Every Christian-indeed, every human being- has been called by God into a family” (78). As I ponder that statement, the magnitude of what Veith is saying is staggering. When we take the time to think about it, only God could create each of us uniquely in our family of origin. This begins with marriage, which Veith explains in-depth as he describes both the husband and wife’s role in loving and serving one another. Veith expresses, “The purpose of vocation, remember, is to love and serve thy neighbor.…

In the book of Ezra, the main focus is the return of the exiles to Judah from Babylon, and the restoration of Jerusalem and the Temple. This return was approved by Cyrus, who was the king of Persia at the time. Under the imperial rule of Persia and permitted by the edict to return to their land, the exiles were able to eventually implement the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, also known as the Law of Moses, as an authoritative tool in both public and personal life. The idea of the Law being used as a figure of authority can be seen in Chapter Nine; throughout the chapter, the author is exceedingly distressed, because he is told that the people of Israel “[had] not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands with their abominations” (Ezra 9.1b).…

Many people highly regard Author C.S Lewis for his classics of the fiction and nonfiction genre. He wrote dozens of books over the course of his career. His faith-based arguments can be seen in his text, and he has captivated the minds of many a youth(including me in my youthful adulthood) in his landmark series, The Chronicles of Narnia. A lot of people, including Pastor #TimmothyKeller site Lewis's work as what helped them understand the gospel better. And as I am really learning more about him and his works, growing in admiration, I realize that his body of work couldn't have come to be if he had affections that were too high for the desire of Marriage.…

I enjoyed last two week's readings from the book"The New Christian Counselor" and listening all video lectures, seemed very new biblical and transformational approach in the field of Christian counseling. As indicated by Hawkins and Clinton, Gallop poll survey shows that 91% of American adult claim a belief in God and reports 73% believe in the existence of God. Additionally, some research has revealed that genuine believers look for counselors who explicitly incorporate prayer, the Bible, and other faith-based sources into their therapy. In fact, two-thirds of American want their faith addressed in mental health care(Hawkins & Clinton, 2015). The counseling practice and treatment is significantly secularized today, though a higher portion…

I agree with Balswick & Balswick statement, “The high rate of divorce in most Western cultures supports the notion that it is difficult to establish a strong marriage in a postmodern society.” (Balswick & Balswick, 2014, p. 79) In today’s society the stability of marriage is not grounded without a biblical aspect of keeping Christ at center. Marriages should be man and women becoming one, in the aspect of unity being established by vows of promises and not build on rules and conditions. With rules and conditions it creates a positon for self-worth and greediness to enter the unity of a marriage.…
