Each nation differs in the way they function and represent the people. Some nations are governed by a king or dictator who tends to entirely take control. Other nations are governed by small groups who tend to control most of the decisions. An important thing to note is that the United States of America has a democratic form of government that is governed by many people. According to the book titled “We the People” by Ginsberg, Lowi, Weir & Tolbert (2015) a democracy is a “system of rule that permits citizens to play a significant part in the government process.” Citizens of the country have an opportunity to participate in elections and elect government officials which are known by the term as a representative democracy.
