After graduating high school, she was unable to get into Pennsylvania University, so she attended Syracuse University in New York in the fall. While attending Syracuse, a life changing event took place. She was brutally raped in the tunnel of the amphitheater (Glaug 1). She stayed at Syracuse, where she enrolled in a creative writing class. Eventually she earned her bachelor’s degree and studied writing (Glaug 2). After attending Syracuse, she transferred to the University of Houston, where she failed as a graduate student. After her failed attempt at Texas, she relocated herself to New York City, where she began to experiment Heroin. Rarely does an author have such an impact on literature with their first novel, however, Sebold managed the impossible. It is hard to impact literature with their first ever novel, especially writing about such a dark subject, but Sebold’s The Lovely Bones did (“Alice Sebold” 1). Two of Sebold’s three novels are about rape. Her books have impacted literature and her writing. As a young adult, Sebold went through a horrific experience, which changed her
