After School Music Analysis

An after-school music program for students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) will greatly benefit them emotionally, socially, and academically. In fact, Chong and Kim (2010) stated participation in after-school programs has led to reduced negative behaviors like substance abuse, dropping out of school, and juvenile delinquency often linked to the absence of parental supervision. These negative behaviors tend to be found in older EBD students, however, they can be deterred by intervening when the students are young.

According to Joseph (2012), music helps with the development of skills such as listening, communicating, and creativity. Music addresses various skills that students with EBD can apply to improve their day to day
