In fact, the challenges are even difficult behind the scenes of the entertainment industry, only a limited number of black people work in these related jobs like Writers, directors, Executives and Chair/CEOs. If you search up entertainment executives on google you will only spot white males taking on those jobs. To be exact reports from UCLA found 18 major studios in Los Angeles and examined those studios and found 94 percent of CEOs and/or chairs running these studios are white and 100 percent male. Meanwhile, the studio’s senior management corps was 92 percent white and 83 percent male. This the norm in the entertainment industry and till this day number are still low in black people with high position jobs in the entertainment industry, and in several cases, studios have shown no black individual working in the high-end positions in this industry. The numbers get worse for black females. Film writers play an extensive role in films and in 2013 only 12.9 percent of the 170 films examined in 2013 by UCLA, where given credit to women of color. Despite the progress that has been made in the industry, we should have significantly notice more progress than what we have witnessed. It is not a simple change, everyday this happens to affect black people every day and prevents them from moving forward and becoming successful in the future.
