There are a number of training methods, each method has certain advantages and disadvantages. Below is the list of how training methods can be an advantage or disadvantage.
Technology based learning such as PC, Internet, Web based
Advantages:
• This learning is unlimited
• A huge amount of websites offering information
• Employees benefit as they learn at their own pace, not restricted to time
• No travelling costs
Disadvantages:
• Employee can be distracted easily by online games etc.
• Technology isn’t always reliable, things can break, power cuts etc.
• Can be boring after a while
• If employee is on their own, they can’t ask questions to their tutor
• Can be expensive to buy the technology, PC, Internet etc.
Classroom Based
Advantages:

• Tutor will arrange of the needed equipment
Disadvantages:
• Some employees might not like the outdoors
• Weather dependent
• Some employees may have health issues can will not be able to take part in the activities.
Films and Videos
Advantages:
• These will be specifically based around the training
• Employees attention will be kept
• Motivates the employee
• Effective way to stimulate discussions once the film has finished
Disadvantages:
• No interaction from the tutor
• Minimal effect from the tutor, they may use this for a break from teaching
Case Studies
Advantages:
• Employees can analyse and discuss workplace
