As the health educator for this new worksite policy I have some concerns that it may fail. There are two significant reasons that may cause this program to fail:
1. There is a lack of program details regarding how or if workers are even being helped to stop smoking. There is no evidence that a smoking cessation program is in place, only a policy to quit smoking.
2. There is no timeline in which to implement this policy.

If the stated objective is to get workers to quit then the needs assessment should help determine the best strategies and interventions for the workers to quit smoking (NHEC, 2014, p.53). The leadership team should determine a realistic outcome for the smoking cessation program and determine how the outcomes can be measured. A survey of smoking habits and previous attempts of the employees should be documented before the smoking cessation program is implemented.
