• What forest/domain model should Crete LLC implement?
• What is the domain name?
• Where should the domain controllers be placed?
• Should RODC be part of the consideration?
• FSMO Roles placement?
• Plan for AD backup and recovery.
For this network, I will recommend that Crete LLC should use a regional domain model. This model will consist of a forest root domain and two regional domains. The root domain will be the Houston office. The Dallas office and Los Angeles office will be considered as the regional domains in this domain structure. The reason why I choose this model is because it will give the opportunity for Crete LLC to expand easily if needed. This is possible because the regional domain model replicates all object …show more content…
(Microsoft, What 's New in Active Directory in Windows Server, 2014) This will allow Crete LLC to add another location to the regional domain with ease and allow that location to communicate with the rest of the company. Microsoft states that “The regional domain model enables you to maintain a stable environment over time.” (Microsoft, What 's New in Active Directory in Windows Server, 2014) The Houston location will have the domain name as Houston.CreteLLC.com. The domain name for the Dallas location will be Dallas.CreteLLC.com and the final domain name for the Los Angeles location will be named LosAngeles.CreteLLC.com. Domain controllers will be placed at all three of the locations. Having a domain controller at each location will increase the overall performance of the network, it will decrease the amount of traffic on the network which will increase the speed of logins at all three locations. Since the Houston location is the root domain for our network, the Dallas location and the Los Angeles location will both be using Read-only domain controllers (RODCs). The reason why the Dallas office and Los Angeles office will be using read-only domain controllers is because the RODCs contain a complete copy of the domain controller at the Houston location. This in turn …show more content…
File Services has many features to protect security with files. Once added to the roles of the server you can configure and create custom quotas, set share and NTFS permissions. Quotas will be used to limit the amount of space any user can use on the database. This will limit users and protect us in case of an attack. With quota management, we can create quotas to limit the space for a volume or folder on the network and produce notifications for the user and administrator when the quota limits are approached or exceeded by the user. As we grow the company, we can generate auto applied quotas to existing volumes added or any volumes or folders created by the growth of the company. Another reason to use quotas is so we can create quota templates for later use down the road if needed. (Microsoft, Quota Management,
