The Presence Saint Francis Hospital (PSFH), founded by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration, is one of the non-profit hospitals. Our mission reflects in providing compassionate, holistic care with a spirit of healing and hope in the communities that we served. The PSFH has been meeting the health needs of Evanston Rogers Park and West Ridge residences for over than 100 years. About 28% of the Rogers’ Park population has health access through the Saint Francis Hospital. Rogers Park has the lowest income ($40,000) comparing to other areas, and almost 25% population lives below the poverty line. Giving free health care for this population is really important.
About 15% of the population of Rogers Park is limited English speakers, and Spanish are the most common language spoken in this area. Analyzing this data we can assume that the majority of the non-English speakers are immigrants and some of them could be refugees. The North side is the area that has most refugees, and most of them were first from China arriving from Vietnam. This could be explained because most of the resettlement agencies opened offices
