Definition
This involves giving vulnerable people the right to make their own decisions regarding their care plan. They do this by ensuring that no decisions are made behind their back and they make sure that patients are given enough knowledge in order to make choices and decisions that are definitely going to be in their best interest. However patients care providers would step in if a patient lacks the mental capacity to decide for themselves an example of this would be a patient suffering with a severe disability or mental health disorder.

Involvement of individuals in planning their support
Definition
This is including the patients views, opinions and feelings whilst producing a care plan for them. An example of a patients feelings would be they do not feel comfortable leaving their home therefore care providers and staff would come up with a way to keep the patient safe and cared for. They would do this by hiring a care worker so the patient can be cared for without needing to go into the hospital.
How this provides the holistic approach
This enables professionals to provide holistic support by allowing the patient to express their views their emotional needs are considered meaning that a holistic approach is for filled. This means that the patient will receive the best overall care as they will feel valued and are more likely to hear to the treatment plan.
