Abortion and Ethics In today’s society, “abortion” has raised a lot of ethical controversy all over the world.
The word “abortion,” means “the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy.” (Abortion, 2012) This may be performed for a number of reasons. There are also many different methods of abortion. Abortion has divided people all over the world, and has caused people to debate whether it is right for a woman to terminate her pregnancy or not. Rule utilitarianism says that we should make rules that bring about the greatest good.” (Rsrevision, 2011) In some situations a utilitarian, should be able to justify that it can be alright to deny a woman to have an abortion if it is for the greater good of the woman. There can be many reasons why women have decided to have an abortion. There are two different ways of having an abortion. One of the ways women can obtain an abortion is called the morning after pill. By taking this pill you need to go to see a physician for the medicine. This medicine causes the lining of uterus to become thin, and blocks the hormones needed for pregnancy. You can only use the morning after pill in the first 9 weeks, anything after that you have to have a surgical abortion. A surgical abortion can be performed from 15 to 26 weeks along, but the farther along you are the more they do not want to abort your child. This is where a lot of people are having debates whether it is right or wrong to allow abortions. I am stuck in the middle of this topic. I believe that only under certain circumstance should you have an abortion. These circumstances would be if you were raped, if you have medical problems, or if there is something medically wrong with the fetus. Other than that I feel that you should have the child. There are so many people in this world that can’t have children that would love
