She may be too young and immature to take care of a child. She may not have the funds or budget to take care of a child. She may not have the mental capacity due to a mental illness of some sort. No child deserves to live in a home where their mother is not able to take care of them in the right way. This could lead to learning deficits, which could lead to worse performance in their education, which could lead to the child having a harder time getting a job in their future. The Administration on Children, Youth, and Families states that there are around 400,000 children up for adoption in the United States alone (“The AFCARS Report” 1). This does not count the children in other countries. This proves that there are already so many children who are waiting to be adopted. There is a large difference in the amount of families willing to adopt versus the number of children living in adoption centers. If all women who did not want to have offspring put their child up for adoption, this difference would be even bigger. This causes more children to go without families, which could have detrimental effects on a child’s life. These include health risks, homelessness or bad housing, and involvement in the criminal justice system (“The AFCARS Report” 6). It is not morally right to force a person to live under such circumstances. If the woman is forced to go through with the pregnancy, it could cause the child to have a worse life.
