The gates are heavily guarded, so that nobody can enter or leave the city. Furthermore, at the age of twelve Kulski joins the union for Armed Resistance, this means that he was willing to die for his country in order to regain the freedom and independence for Poland. During the times he goes to the Underground Resistance Army they would train and plot attacks. Kulski is a very courageous and brave boy as he states throughout the book that “ There’ll still be plenty of chances for me to fight before it’s all over” ( Kulski 125); sure enough, he is a valiant character as nothing would stop him in the fight for freedom and justice. Kulski was able to give us a wider context inside of the Ghetto as he mentions that the situation inside the Ghetto has reached crisis point because of the lack of food supply and because of germany harsh treatment they did not provide them food. Kulski would argue that this was the worst event in human history because of the tremendous amount of lives taken away behind the walls of the Ghetto. The diary of Kulski intends to show the readers the condition of Poland’s invasion and the hardship that many people like him were willing to do against the Nazis. As a young child, he is fighting for freedom under the German occupation as he understands the meaning and the value of it and also shows that through his courage and many others like them they would do anything for a free, strong, and liberated Poland.This book also intends to show the readers that the courage in wartime means giving your lifeblood for justice, resistance, and freedom. Furthermore, Kulski wants the readers to understand that there were people willing to resist being under the control of Germany, so small rebellious armies were formed to get Poland in fighting mode. Honorable people of all ages risked their lives by joining the resistance armies for a strong Poland. Through the lens and an unique perspective of Poland in WW2 by Kulski who was part of two uprising wars against the Germans, shows that Freedom is worth dying for and not willing to watch as Poland collapses in front of him. It also provides to the readers the notion that it took an entire nation working together to resist against Germany and the Soviet Union.
