We interviewed Neil from Mumbai, India. Mumbai is a very densly populated city in India and is located on India's west coast. The biggest tourist attraction there is The Gateway of India stone arch, built by the British Raj in 1924. Mumbai was formerly called Bombay and changed its name in 1995 due to Shiv Sena deciding that "Bombay" was a corrupted English version of "Mumbai" and an unwanted legacy of British colonial rule. The new name, "Mumbai" comes from Mumbā or Mahā-Ambā, meaning "the name of the patron goddess. Neil relocated to America back in 2008 when he was eleven years old. His Father decided to move to America for work and eventually started his own branch of the company he worked for. Neil said that half of his family is still …show more content…
We don't seem to appreciate food as much over here as they do In India. He did say that his favorite thing about America was all the different types foods we have. His personal favorite is steak, but when he first arrived in America, he had Mexican food and fell in love with it.
Kindness-In America, people seem to only look out for themselves, whereas in India they look out for each other. It's like a massive community of people just looking out for one another.
Our time spent outdoors- Neil said he remembers going outside to play at 4:45 and not coming in until 9pm. Children here don't do that.
When asked what his most memorable experience in America, he said, The N Word (Negro); It's taboo to say here, but people say it normally everywhere else in the world. When he moved here, his mother said it in a Bath and Body Works store and she glared at them until they left. Lesson learned.
America has a lot of 'Largest Things', which Neil finds odd. He saw the world's largest treadmill though and thought it was cool though. We asked Neil which place he prefered, America or India, "Both places have their ups and downs. The quality of living here is better, there's a higher value to the human life here and a smaller
