George Lopez was born on April 23, 1961 in Mission Hills, California. He and his mother were abandoned by his father when he was only two months old. At the age of ten he was then abandoned by his mother. He was told by his mother that his father had died, but when she left to he found out that he did not. Lopez never found him, but he thinks he is now living in Mexico. He’s still is not close with his mother, who now lives in Sacramento. Because of the rough situation, he was raised by his grandmother in the Mexican-American community. Unfortunately, she gave him little attention. Although he had a very difficult childhood, he turned his bad experiences into acts for standup comedy, which is what he is later known for.

He met Ann in May of 1990, but when he first met her he said there were “no major fireworks at first,” which he wrote in his autobiography. By 1999, Lopez was the host of a morning show for Clear Channel Communications in Los Angeles. He was the first Latino to headline a major radio slot on an English-language station which was the nation’s top radio marker. In 2001, Lopez stared in the film Bread and Roses, which he was nominated for the ALMA Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. Like I stated before, George Lopez starred in a television series, George Lopez. Actress, Sandra Bullock approached Lopez to star in a comedy. Bullock thought that there were really no Hispanic-oriented shows on American television. She wanted it to star Hispanics, but not have it directly be about the Hispanic-American community. George Lopez starred in the show alongside other Hispanic actors, Desi Arnaz, Freddie Prinze, and John Leguizamo. The show aired from 2002 to 2007 on ABC. Lopez was also the writer, co-creator, producer, and starred in the show. Then the show started to be aired on Nick at Nite on March 8, 2007. The show was then cancelled on September 7, 2007, on ABC.
