Henry Brooks Adams said, “A teacher affects eternity; they can never tell where their influence stops.” This statement holds true. Teachers are one of the most influential resources that shape our youth and future generations. “Many factors contribute to a student 's academic performance, including individual characteristics and family and neighborhood experiences. But research suggests that, among school-related factors, teachers matter most” (RAND Editors, 2016). Thus stated the quality of a teacher is important. As a teacher, I will be the change I want to see in the world. I aspire to be one of those influential teachers whose impact on their students resonate a sensation of sentiment and evoke a sense of awe and wonderment at their own achievements and success. I want to make a lasting impression on my students and teach them not only to learn, but to love learning.
Teachers are more than an instructional tool used to pass on information to future generations. Ann Lieberman said, “Great teachers empathize with children, respect them, and believe that each one has something special that can be built upon.” In order to be an effective teacher, one must apply themselves whole-heartedly into the profession. They must demonstrate characteristics of honesty, integrity, and dedication. They must be respectful, empathetic and approachable. I will encompass all of these qualities and I will strive to meet the needs of all students in my care by pursuing my passion of nurturing…
