Throughout my life I have always been around teachers. From experience I’ve known the good and the bad, public and private education. Each teacher is distinct, as they have all come from different schools and ways of life. But, for the duration of my 12 years of education, certain individuals have constantly shown through. Background Summary of Field Experience For my Summative Project, I completed my observation hours at Heritage High School in freshmen English classes. I chose this site because it is close to my residence and the contact information was provided by Regis University. When I reached out to the person of contact, she was slow to respond. Taking maters into my own hands, I went to the Heritage High School website and researched the English teachers on my own. While looking around online, I was amazed to find that all of the teachers have links to class web pages.…

Educators are the guide to a student’s readiness into the real world and their future. With under-qualified teachers, they can harshly dent student success, which then affects the course of their future. From my personal experience, my high school English teacher, who I had for 3 years, is the one to blame for me lacking behind in my English skills. He was indeed under- qualified and his curriculum needed much improvement. On a regular day, he would briefly talk about some grammar points, then tell us to work on some worksheets and read out of the textbook for the remaining hour of class.…

There are many articles that I have read over the last few weeks, but two in particular really challenged my thinking and philosophy in regards to education. In the article, “Edwin & Phyllis,” Lynn Fendler engages her readers with a meaningful dialogue between an experienced teacher and a prospective educator, debunking some of the more traditional responses that young, perspective teachers might give for wanting to become educators. The truth is that teaching can be anything but glamorous and oftentimes straddles the fine line between causing more harm then the good that it seeks to accomplish in the life of a child. Prospective teachers must not only think about what motivates them in wanting to become educators, but what type of teachers…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…

Teachers are among the most important people in society today. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow 's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today 's instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly, however important teachers are in civilization, they are still drastically underappreciated, underrecognized and underpaid.…

Whenever I am asked who inspired myself to become an educator there is always one person that comes to my mind, Mrs. Toloskiewich. She was my second grade teacher at Oakwood Elementary School. Mrs. Toloskiewich was the teacher that made some kind of impact of each and every one of her students whether it was helping them find their talents and skills, or like myself, showing them their true calling in life. It was in her classroom at the young age of seven, that I made the decision to become a teacher that was going to change lives, and I give all of my thanks to her.…

    1. Introduction Something I didn’t expect myself to say in my entire life was, “I want to be a high school english teacher when I grow up.”. In the past year, I’ve gone from wanting to be a chef, as I love cooking, to a psychologist, as I love helping people to understand their feelings and recover from depression and other mental diseases, to, finally, a high school english teacher. I love helping people learn and I’ve gotten to help many since most school subjects come to me easily. I considered elementary school teaching, but I do not have the patience to teach kids brand new ideas everyday and cultivate their creativity, so I decided teaching kids who already know how to do most of the things they need to know is better for me.…
