A Look On Incest “To be, or not to be: that is the question” (Hamlet). One of the most well-known Shakespearian quotes of all time. One might ask who this Shakespeare guys is anyways? Well, he is easily one of the most recognizable playwrights in English literature. He wrote everything from comedies such as The Two Gentlemen of Verona and All’s Well that End’s Well to tragedies like the famous Romeo and Juliet, as well as Hamlet. William Shakespeare was a man whose birthdate is questioned to be the same day he died fifty-two years later. William Shakespeare was not born into a family of nobility or wealth. He was not taken under the wing of a senor artist, nor did he attend a university, yet his talent as an actor and playwright was second to none. Shakespeare was said to have developed his skills on his own and “is now the most performed and read playwright in the world” (The Life of William Shakespeare). Shakespeare started his career in a 1992 pamphlet by Robert Greene, where he resurfaced as an “upstart crow” who flapped his poetic wings in London. “Between 1590 and 1592, Shakespeare 's Henry VI series, Richard III, and The Comedy of Errors were performed. When the theaters were closed in 1593 because of the plague, the playwright wrote two narrative poems, Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece, and probably began writing his richly textured sonnets.
