Dana Dusbiber, a teacher who believes that Shakespeare should be kept out of the classroom states “I do not believe that a long-dead, British guy is the only writer who can teach my students about the human condition.” (Text 2, lines 34-36) This shows her concern that Shakespeare’s works from 450 years ago doesn't further enhance knowledge of her ethnically diverse modern students of the human condition. She also claims that Shakespeare’s works won't “make my students less able to go out into the world and understand language or human behavior” (Text 2, lines 37-38) showing no advantages on her students if they read his works. Reading Shakespeare doesn't make students less able to understand human behavior, but it does provide students a preconceived notion to find beauty and meaning in life from Shakespeare's works.
