William Shakespeare is known as an incredible writer and actor. However, over the past couple centuries, his authenticity is one that concerns a lot of scholars. The amount of knowledge and skill requires for someone to have written these type of works does not match up with Shakespeare’s background. From looking at what Shakespeare has left behind, and from a couple proven writings, some perceive Shakespeare to have been a pseudonym for a much more known actor and writer of the time.

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, in 1564. The exact date of his birth is not known, but it is celebrated around April 23. Shakespeare's parents were John and Mary, who married around 1557. William was the oldest surviving child. Two of his sisters died before he was born. William's younger siblings were Gilbert, Joan, Anne, Richard and Edmund. Ann died at the age of eight, but the others lived to be adults. It is likely that he attended grammar school beginning at age 7, even though he probably had learned his letters and basic reading before then. Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway about 1582, when he was 18 years old. Anne is thought to have been around 26 when they married. It is believed that he wrote about 38

They argue that Shakespeare’s background doesn’t line up with the knowledge and experience reflected in his plays. Shakespeare was the son of an illiterate tradesman and there is no record that he had any formal schooling. He sometimes acted, he was an occasional real-estate investor and his death seemed to go unnoticed. There were no found manuscripts written by the actual Shakespeare, and all the proven papers he wrote didn’t include of his drama work.
