After all, where would we even be without these advancements? How would the food we eat here be transported the thousand miles from where it is produced? Rice, tomatoes, grapes, garlic, and tons of other foods and ingredients we consume daily here in California could come tens of thousands of miles away, from places like China, Chile, Netherlands, Thailand, etc.. All this transporting of food does have downsides though, as it causes tons and tons of pollution as it travels halfway across the world, through means of airplanes, ships, trucks, and other modes of transportation, adding to and having a substantial impact on global warming. Besides, it has been statistically proven that eating local, organic foods is much healthier and safer than foods being grown, packed, and transported thousands of miles sitting in boxes for days or even weeks at a time. Buying local foods also helps your local economy, helping family farmers stay in business and continue to grow and produce healthy foods for us. These days it seems everyone simply lives alongside one another, you may be close with some neighbors, but no more than maybe a couple houses down. The UPS delivery man may simply throw your mail in the mailbox on your front yard and move on to the next house, or maybe drop off a box at your front door, ring the doorbell and move on, with none to very little socializing or conversation. Granted, it's his job to get tons of mail delivered all throughout town to each and every person within a certain time frame, and he probably has tons of other personal things going on non job-related, and just wants to get through the day to get home to his wife and kids and put money on the table to support them. This seems to be the problem with most people these days, as everyone is very self-centered and has their own problems to worry about, not to mention each others. That's not necessarily the fault of transportation than in it is ourselves and modern society, but with everyone having cars and going about their personal lives without much socializing, or how easy it is to hop on a train, airplane, or get in your car and drive away and
