A Day Celebration At The University Of Maryland Essay

Students sang these lyrics at pep rallies. No one was ever reprimanded because of the nature of the lyrics. It was considered all in good fun.
That year, on October 2, we participated in the Band Day festivities at the University of Maryland in College Park. Upon arrival, all of the participating bands had a mass rehearsal with the University of Maryland Terrapins Band in the Cole Field House. We then went to Byrd Stadium for the game in which the Terrapins hosted the Villanova Wildcats. At halftime, the participating bands marched onto the football field, and played the National Emblem March (music by Edwin Eugene Bagley), Feelings (music by Louis Gasté and Morris Albert), and Procession of the Nobles (music by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov) with the University Of Maryland Terrapins band. There were about 30,000 people in attendance at the game. Our assigned space on the field was near the 45 yard line, just to the right of the University of Maryland Band. University of Maryland won the game 20 to 9.
After football season, we practiced for our Christmas Concert. After the New Year, we practiced for our Spring Concert. Practice was held after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Even though we were all in junior high school and senior high school, practice was held on the stage in the auditorium in the annex of the elementary school in Olyphant.
