On the 28 August Gritz finally made contact with the Weaver’s, he asked is everyone ok. This was led with a resounding no, Weaver said, "My wife was shot and killed last Saturday" (Linder, 2010). Weaver also stated that he and Harris were both injured from the sniper fire that resulted in the death of Vicki Weaver. Harris injury was much more profound than Randy Weaver. Vicki Weaver body has been in the cabin for about eight days and Gritz was able to convince the Weavers to allow her body to be removed from the cabin. Gritz also convinced Harris that his injuries are really bad and needed medical attention.
