Which two superpowers did the Cold War involve?
The USA and USSR.
Why was the Cold War called the Cold War.
Because the superpowers never actually fought with each other directly.
Give 5 methods which the superpowers used to fight each other in the cold war.

What did Western governments do in 1918 which the communists never forgot?
They sent armies to invade Russia and overthrow the Communist government but it didn't work.
What did Russia do in 1939 that caused friction between the allies?
They made a secret pact with Germany stating they would not make war with each other, and although this didn't work, the western allies never forgot about the pact.
When did the Yalta conference take place?
In February 1945
Which 3 leaders met at Yalta?
Stalin, Roosovelt and Churchill.
What 5 main issues did they agree on? Explain each in as much detail as possible.
Liberated Europe- The people of countries freed from Nazi rule should be able to set up democratic, independent gavernments.

Germany would be divided into zones at the end of the war which would be occupied by the allies.

The soviet Union would take East Poland to make up defences and Poland would be given land from East Germany.

A United Nations Organisation to promote world peace would be set up.

Soviet armies in the Far East would invade Manchuria to attack Japanese forces.
