It was a company that was established in 1660's, in Africa by the British. It was responsible for securing slaves for the British West Indies and fostering trade. It is the African equivelant of the British East Indies Trading Company.
What is Triangular Trade?
Triangular trade was the trade between America, Africa and Europe where Slaves would be sent from America. Then American raw goods would be sent to Europe for processing and profit. Then European goods would be sent to Africa.
How did Europeans justify slavery?
They justified it by saying that it already existed in Africa when they got there.
What were the Asante?
The Asante were a coastal tribe located on the Gold Coast (Ghana). It was started by the Akan people. They were a matrilineal people.
Who was Osei Tutu?
Osei Tutu was the leader of the Asante people. He used European firearms as a way of obtaining more slaves, wealth and power.
What was the Asanthene?
It was the title given to the Asante leader. Started by Osei Tutu, it gave the person who possessed that title supreme civil and religious power. It was used to overcome clan organization and establish leadership

The Dahomey were a 17th century Kingdom of the Western African Coast. They were known for their fierce and brutal leadership based on African Slave Trade. They had artisan guilds that were based on bronze, wood and ivory.
What is Zanzibar?
Zanzibar was a Swahili, Indian, and Arabian colony. Merchants established a European style plantation based on the clove spice. Slaves were used in Zanzibar. By 1870 the court had over 4,000 slaves

It was a company established in 1652 in Cape Colony. It was used as a provisioning post for Asian Trade Expeditions. It eventually causes the use and need for slavery.

The Boers were Dutch settlers, who settled in Cape Colony, whose expansion eventually leads to conflict with the Native Africans

It led to the destruction of villages, prisoners of war, separation from family and friends, forced marches and slave pens

They were African born slaves with paticularly dark skin.
What were Creole slaves?
They were American born slaves with a typically lighter skin. Often caused by the exploitation of African women. Creole slaves were allowed to have more opportunities, opportunities at emancipation and acquire labor skills

It was the movement of Boers from South Africa to more Northern Parts of Africa in 1834; due to the banishment of slave trade.
