What is a conductor?

A conductor has free electrons, these electrons can move throughout the material.

What is an insulator?

An insulator has no free electrons, therefore the electrons can't move throughout the material.

Define Current.

The flow of electrons.

Example of Charge Producing A Current.

⚡️

Air masses and ice crystals moving past each other in thunder clouds can build up charges. If there are enough energy, long sparks are produced between the thunder clouds and the ground. This movement of charge is lightning.

Example of Charge Producing A Current.

👣

When a person rubs their feet on some types of carpet, they build a charge which is stored in their body. Then, when they touch an object which is a conductor, the charge flows form their body to the object. This causes a small shock.
