What are the advantages of using a netbook for school work (rather than a desktop computer)
1. they are portable/small/lightweight and can be carried and used anywhere.
2.They use batteries, they do not need mains electricity supply therefore they can be used while moving/travelling.
3. They have wireless networking/Wifi, therefore you can connect to the internet while away from home/travelling.
What are the disadvantages of using a Netbook for school work (rather than a desktop computer)
1.They can be easily lost/misplaced/dropped resulting in loss of school work.
2. Could be difficult to see/read your school work.
3. Could be difficult to type/use for school work.
4. There is no optical drive fitted internally, an external device is needed. CD's/DVD's cannot be used to save back-up.
5. Battery life maybe short and need frequent recharges. It may shut down and work would be lost.
A USB flash memory drive maybe used for storing a backup of a file. What is Backup?
A backup is a copy of files.
Why are USB Flash memory drives suitable for storing backups?
1.They are portable and can be stored away from netnook/computer.
2.They are small therefore easliy stored.
3.They have a large enough memory to store large files or many files.
4.They are easy to use, no special software is needed, you simply plug in.
What precautions should you take when using 'chat rooms'?
1.Never give out personal details, e.g school info, addresses,phone numbers,places you like to visit.
2.be wary of discussing/revealing addresses of the area you live.
3.Never use a revealing photo of yourself.
4.Check who you are in contact with.Only talk to people you know.
5.Never arrange to meet anyone you dont know.
6.Report anything suspicious activity to Parents/adults/responsible people.
