What are the 4 main purposes of government?
to maintain social order, to provide public service, provide national security, and making economic decisions.
autocracy
a single individual rules.controls all aspects of social& economic life. People lack the power to limit rilers.
2 types of autocracy:totalitarian dicitatorship and monarchy.
oligarchy
a small group holds power. += your more potected from the army, often made up of the most educated. -= could die if you don't agree.
democracy
rule is by the people. += more freedom/ individual rights. most elements of populations are repsesented. -=less order, time consuming, & they dont always follow the wishes of their constitutients.
unitary system
type of government that gives all key powers to the national or central government.
federal system
type of government that divides the powers of government & state or provincial governments.
confederacy
a loose union of idependent states.
constitutional government
a government in which a constitution has authority to place dearly recognized limits on the powers of those who govern

a statement that sets forth the goals & purposes to be served by the government.
constitutional law
law that involves the interpretation & application of the US Constitution & state constictutions.
politics
the effort to control or influence the conduct & policies of government.
