verbal aggression
when a person verbally attacks another without addressing the original complaint or disregards it

denial
psychological defense mechanism in which a person avoids confronting a personal problem or reality by denying the existence of the problem or reality
Example: "My husband can't have cancer. He is completely healthy."
physical avoidance
completely avoiding any representaton of a painful event.
Example: "I will never go to that restaurant again, because that's where my ex-husband told me he wanted a divorce."
projection
a defense mechanism that is the attribution of one's own ideas, feelings, or attitudes to other people or to objects.
Example: Everyone else is always late, so why am I getting reprimanded for it?"
