What are the characteristics of life?
Composed of cells, different levels of organisation, use energy , grow, reproduce, respond to their environment and adaptation.
What is cilia and flagella?
Cilia and flagella either make it possible for the sperm cells to swim or to move liquid
Endocytosis versus exocytosis
Endocytosis with the movement of material into the cell and exocytosis is the movement out of the cell
Prokaryotic versus eukaryotic cells ?
Bacteria are prokaryotic
What is interface?
Takes place before mitosis and replicates DNA
What is prophase?
The longest stage of mitosis, the nuclear material disappears, the chromatin condenses into chromosomes
What is metaphase?
The shortest stage of mitosis, the chromatin line up at the cell's equator attached the microtubules at the centromere
What is the product of mitosis?
Two identical daughter cells
What is anaphase?
The centrosomes move towards opposite poles, chromosomes split and move towards opposite poles
What is telophase?
Nuclear material reappears and chromosomes condense into chromatid and the centrosomes disappear
What is cytokinesis?
Cleavage furrow pinches cytoplasm of animal cells and the plate forms to plant cells thus creating two identical daughter cells
What do mitochondria and chloroplasts do?
Mitochondria turns food and oxygen into adoneise teiphosphate which produces energy
What does the phospholipid bilayer consist of?
Lipids carbs and cholesterol
Covalent vs ionic bonds
Ionic bonds attract and covalent bonds don't because they are non metal
Is an enzyme?
Produced by living organisms and act like a catalyst to bring out biochemical reactions
Active versus passive transport
Passive transport does not need energy to transport biochemical things because it is moving from a high concentration to a low concentration and active would require energy because it is moving from the same concentration
