Organ system that protects the body from damage (abrasion, water loss, microorganisms, and sun damage) and is comprised of the skin and apendages like hair, nails, glands. It also houses our touch receptors and regulates body temp |

Decribe the skeletal system |
The skeletal system comprises all the bones and joints of the body and acts as a scaffold to provide support and structure to the human organism. Bones produce blood cells (hemopoeisis), store calcium and phosphorous, and protect organs. |

Describe the muscular system |
Responsible for movement and comprised of muscles, tendons, and aponeurosis (flat tissue that functions like a tendon. Muscles also generate heat yhrough contractions. |

Define the nervous system |
Comprised of the brain, spinal cord, eyes, ears, taste buds and peripheral nerves, this system controls muscles (involuntary and voluntary movement), the body's response to stimuli, consciousness, intelligence, amd memory. |

This system is responsible for hormone production and regulates body functions through glands. Major glands are: pineal,pituitary, pancreas, ovaries, testes, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal. |

Comprised of the heart and blood vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries), this system transports (circulates) oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and cellular waste throughout the body. |

This system is responsible for ridding the body of toxins, waste, and other unwanted materials. This system does so bt transporting lymph, a fluid containing white blood cells, to fight infection in an immune response. In includes the thymus, spleen, tonsils, lymph nodes, thoracic duct, and lymph vessels. |

Realonsible for taking in oxygen and expelling CO2. Primary organs are the lungs, bronchi, trachea, nose, pharyns, larynx. |

This system filters blood to remove waste via urine. Primary organs are the kidney, ureter, bladder, and urethra |

Comprised of the mouth, throat, esophagus, liver, stomach, and intestines, this system controlls food digestion, nutrient absorption, and waste excretion. |
