There were many different options to choose from for this essay, and I chose to attend the play,The Caucasian Chalk Circle. It was a great experience to have seen a play like this. There are many different aspects of a play that have to work together to have a successful overall outlook. A few major aspects that contribute to the overall outlook are; the quality of the acting, if the plot is enjoyable, how the characters present themselves and how the lighting ties in with the mood. To begin, I feel as if the quality of the actors plays a prominent role in the overall outlook of a play. This is impressive to me because in other situations similar to that subject I would just block out myself from, but I could not ignore this play if I tried. Another impressive aspect was that one of the main characters was a woman named Grusha, and yet still was very interesting. I do not having anything against women that play important roles, I just enjoy and relate to a male leader more. The woman that played the main role really got into her character. Even though it was just a play, the emotion on her face made the play seem like it was reality. There were many astonishing actors that did an amazing job of selling their character’s role. The quality of the acting is a very important factor in deciding the overall performance of a play. In my opinion I found the plot to be engaging. When a movie, book, or even a play does not have pleasurable plot it is hard to stay interested. To be honest I expected the play to be really boring. I was surprised by a very compulsive plot. This play was by a brilliant man named, Bertolt Brecht. It took place in a Soviet Georgian village. The dispute between two sides was interrupted by a Delegate that was sent from the state to act as a peacemaker. When he proposed a solution to each group to better the village he was hit by obnoxious chatter of disapproval.
