Feelings such as revenge, happiness, anger, have evolved and have become emotions that relate to survival of the fittest which relates to animals and humans (cite source). Survival of the fittest is Charles Darwin’s theory on reproduction and success in an environment, and how animals adapt to that specific environment. In an environment, animals become extremely territorial and protective. Konrad Lorenz ‘On Aggression’, relates to behaviors and ulterior motives in the following plays: The Homecoming by Harold Pinter, Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen, and The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht. In The Homecoming, Harold Pinter is inspired to have the play’s setting take place in a room, specifically a room in an old house. Rooms in the play are very significant. The characters in the play have a very dysfunctional relationship. Pinter strives to represent a realistic household. The father Max has three children, Teddy, Lenny, Joey, and a brother, Sam. Teddy pays a visit to his family who all display aggressive behavior. When they find that he’s brought his wife Ruth with him, they begin to feel protective over their territory. Lenny offers Ruth, Teddy’s wife a glass of water shares with her his experience with a couple of women, and what they has done to them to scare Ruth away. He tells Ruth…
