1. Introduction. Modern technologies for children: useful or harmful? Living in the 21st century we obviously meet the huge stream of information every day. This information finds us everywhere, from TV, computers, metro, on the street and in the shop. There is only one way to avoid this stream – to live far from civilization. Modern technologies can be useful and harmful at the same time. There are so many aspects and opinions about this question. I will try to analyze both harmful and useful sides of modern technology influence on child development. Let’s try to look at this question from different sides, trying to be objective. The Internet gives us a possibility to open books even placed in libraries on another continent. Also, Internet is very useful by the possibility of communication it gives. It should not be a substitution of real communication, but it can give many positive emotions. Social media and Skype help people to stay in touch even living far away from each other, this way many families can avoid divorce. Incontestable plus of Internet is that it helps us to enjoy communication any time of day and find friends with the same interests as you have. Contrariwise, from the times Internet came to our lives it caused the appearance of many people addicted to it. “Internet addiction is described as an impulse control disorder, which does not involve use of an intoxicating drug and is very similar to pathological gambling. Some Internet users may develop an emotional attachment to on-line friends and activities they create on their computer screens. Internet users may enjoy aspects of the Internet that allow them to meet, socialize, and exchange ideas through the use of chat rooms, social networking websites, or "virtual communities."” (A. Jacob) The most of addicted people are teenagers. It’s a very bad tendency showing when Internet is using by children is should be under a strong parents’ control. I think parents have to control not only a time child spend in the Internet, but also a content of websites he is visiting. It’s one more harmful aspect
