Christians believe Jesus Christ was sent to Earth to fulfill the prophecies of the Old Testament. Christians believe Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again three days later. Jesus Christ ascended into heaven after the third day, and now sits at the right hand of God, the father, in Heaven. As Christians, we wait for the day Jesus Christ will return to judge both the living and the dead. But, before the judgment day comes, we are called to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Bible). The previous verse mentioned means, as Christians we are to spread the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, to everyone and give them the option to accept the Christian belief and have eternal life in Heaven when Jesus Christ returns. Catholics believe the Church is in the form of a “hierarchical society,” meaning it is made up of subjects and superiors who rightfully rule the subjects. Catholics baptize people not only in to the Christian faith but also into the Catholic Church. Communion is the Lord’s Supper, Catholics believe when someone is receiving the bread and wine, they are actually receiving the body and blood of Jesus Christ; this is called transubstantiation. My mom’s childhood, being raised Catholic, was strict. Growing up she and her siblings were continually told, “No sex before marriage,” “No drinking underage,” “No abortions,” and the only excuse accepted to skip church was that you were dead.
