Uncle Tom’s Cabin Essay Uncle Tom's cabin was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1852. Stowe was an abolitionist and author who grew up in a religious family. She was a member of the semicolon club which was a literary social club. At the age of 21 Harriet was living in ohio where Cincinnati's trading and shipping business was. There Stowe met many african americans who inspired her with their stories to write Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Throughout uncle Tom's cabin Stowe describes the life of a man after he is sold from his honorary slave owners. The novel follows him and his journey.
