At this time Dickens made great contrast such as the rich and the poor. He made contrast between the rich and poor by showing how the rich live luxurious lives and are able to take advantage of all the new inventions, but meanwhile the rest of the population is in poverty and very poor. The poor live on the edge of starvation and are ignored greatly by the wealthy. At Christmas time people set everything aside such as income and status and celebrate friendships, charity and celebration in general. Redemption is represented by the process of Scrooge being shown scenarios and then watching how he will change his ways. Scrooge has the power to change his future with his present actions. Dickens tries to show redemption to the reader by showing if Scrooge the most miserable and stingy man can change his ways than anyone
