Accident Prevention and Safety Promotion for Parents and Caregivers of Infants
Neo-natal care has become a common practice that is incorporated in the healthcare plan. The reason for its development is to ensure that infants who are born ill are taken care of and that their lives are safeguarded against the possible dangers they could experience while in the community. One of the issues that affect neo natal care is poverty. When the environment within which infants are brought up is poor or hazardous, their lives are significantly affected.

Exposure to infectious disorders is also very high for infants who grow up in deplorable surroundings. However, infectious diseases are not the only risk factors that infants in poor environments are exposed to; psychiatric disorders, which greatly prevent infants from developing in their psychological activities, are also prevalent in such environments. Low economic status is therefore one of the most negative aspects that can prevent an infant from getting the best healthcare and having enhances physical and mental growth (Murali & Oyebode, 2004, p. 220).
Violent environments are other dangerous zones to infants. This is because the infants are prone to physical and psychological attacks, especially if the mother or the caregiver is directly affected. Violent environments may include wars, political unrests and attack by militia groups.
