Even though Zen is a word, there are some websites that will teach you what Zen is about. Zen Buddhism is to be experienced in order to be understood. The concept of Zen Buddhism is thought to be that all human beings are Buddha; to discover who they truly are, they must go through that cycle themselves. Zen send us to a journey to find enlightenment within oneself. The way to be enlighten is to meditate for a long period of time and let go of any desires suffering or any logical thoughts that comes to mind. Zen simply means “meditation”; the purpose of the Zen meditation is for someone to attain enlightenment. One must empty their mind in order for them to reach to their inner self; their mind must be fixed on nothing. All the answers that one seeks are within themselves. Buddhists do not use books or scriptures to teach, rather they use face-to-face interactions with their pupils. Zen is not considered a philosophy nor a religion, and it strains to free the brain from the repression of words and the contraction of reason. The practice is referred as Zazen, which is the core meditation of Zen. Most people who practice meditation find it difficult to sit down without aiming towards a goal or an expectation. It is a challenge, but in the end you do come to self-realization. Zen Buddhists also practice chanting, not to ask for forgiveness or spare them from the evil things they have done.
