World War I, also known as the Great war, was a war that took the lives of 17 million people and injured 10 million more. The war was a fight between Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire (Central Powers) and Great Britain, Russia, France, and the United states(Allied Powers). World War I was a tragic and horrific 4 years and it finally ended when Germany signed an armistice on November 1918. Soon after at a peace conference in Paris the Treaty of Versailles was signed. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that required Germany to admit war guilt, pay preparations to the allies for the cost of war, reduce army and navy size, return land to France, and give up African and Asian colonies.
