Theme Of Friendship In Othello

In the two books I have read friendship has been very influential in the turnout or conclusion of their stories. However the stories ended very differently one ending in a new found love the other in tragedy. To begin Othello’s main friendship was between Othello and Iago. Othello and Iago had been comrades in battle for many years as Iago is constantly referred to as Othello’s ancient. Iago however loathes Othello and leads you to wonder what friendship is. Friendship is a mutual trust to another person and the positive relationship between people. Although Iago is very untrustworthy Othello perceives him as a saint or one who could do no wrong. The act of friendship is just so impacting and important on which way the story goes. Most likely due to how friends can be a guide to the protagonist and of course assisting in small ways along the way. It is very rare to find a book with no friends to help the protagonist. The only book of the top of my head where the protagonist had no assistance from friends or family is Hatchet. Heck even villains have friends although you could say they are more strained or one-sided such as the one between Iago and Roderigo. The friendship can also help show weaknesses or strengths in the characters such as when Dante and Aristotle came across the two boys shooting the sparrow. In that scene we could see Dante’s weakness for animals or life in general. Also we had a glimpse of Aristotle’s strength and protectiveness of his friends. Friendship can also reveal what a protagonist is thinking feeling etc. in urban time I believe there will be a shift from a theme a friendship in literature to family. Although the two have both been shown in literature throughout the century’s family has had an increase and is even shown in Aristotle and Dante’s book. It is shown through Aristotle’s brother Bernardo although Bernardo did not have a direct effect on Dante we can see how it afflicted Aristotle’s family and how the absence of his brother could have made it hard to understand Aristotle’s
