Since childhood we have been taught that murder is wrong. So ask yourself, what is capital punishment? Why do we kill people to show killing people is wrong? Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a legal sentence to die for criminal behaviour. We criticise murderers for breaking the law and tearing lives away from others, but we would be degraded to the very same level if we did the same and resorted to capital punishment. It carries a dangerous risk of punishing the innocent, is an ineffective deterrent of crime, and the families of the victims have no further closure with it in place.

The studies of it’s effects are flawed due to the impact of other factors that need to be considered. Studies have even suggested a connection between the death penalty and higher crime rates.
