If someone is convicted and later found innocent you can release them from jail, but not from the grave. Human beings are capable of making mistakes, nothing can ever be perfect and we are no exception. Any system is bound to have flaws and capital punishment is a system where these critical errors can’t be reversed. When a life is at stake, error is not an option.
The death penalty is not a reasonable form of crime control. There is no clear evidence that shows that capital punishment acts as a deterrence. The studies of it’s effects are flawed due to the impact of other factors that need to be considered. Studies have even suggested a connection between the death penalty and higher crime rates.
