Discrimination happens everywhere and anywhere. When it comes to reaching a certain goal, that certain person probably won't be able to reach it because they are being held back from people who are discriminating them. When it comes to applying to college or a university some don't get the chance to go in and some do , because some think it's discrimination. There are some universities or colleges that may choose another person because their age race or even gender. So the affirmative action was created. Affirmative action was first created by the executive order 10925, which was signed by the 35th president john f. kennedy march 6 1962 and required federal contractors to “take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race. …show more content…
Affirmative action is an unnecessary and harmful practice because racial diversity has virtually no effect on educational quality and isn't the real rationale for the policy. choosing a group over another does really affect the educational quality. in of the the articles, there was an argument to defend affirmative action. So far the supreme court has permitted affirmative action but with some limitations. The judicial decision on this issue have focused on the educational value of having diversity in the student body. But the professor in the article has observed from his experience that racial diversity has no effect on the quality of education. Universities contend that a diverse student body improves a diverse student body improves the educational quality of classes and that a critical mass of minority students is needed for that purpose. But there is a case where diversity’s benefiting student life outside of the
