In high school I excelled in many activities, but I always doubted myself. I lacked confidence in myself, buy in my second semester at McLennan Community College things changed. I had to complete an academic cooperative for Honors College, and I decided to assign my Biology professor as my mentor. Little did I know my Biology professor was the head of a Marine Biology course and she convinced me to take the course as my academic cooperative. In one semester, I learned how to swim, and then I learned dive, and I was able to receive my diving certification. As a class, we traveled to Roatan, Honduras to complete our research projects. Even though there were times when I thought going to Honduras was going to be impossible, I proved to myself that I really can do anything I set my mind
