I think it really starts with families and making sure they keep their kids busy with activities. A lot of children have free time on their hands and joining a gang gives them something to do. The kids that aren’t apart of gangs are usually children with strong family relationships and good role models. Parents need to spend their time paying attention to their child, not by spoiling them with materialistic things, but by giving them their love and care. A lot of children join gangs to feel a sense of belonging that a family never provided for them or to let out frustration by inflicting pain on others.
