Who Is Montag's Growth In Fahrenheit 451

Personal experience can cause a person to gain more strength and grow as an individual. In Fahrenheit 451, Montag shows growth and strength internally and externally throughout the book based on his experience and events that took place. Becoming aware is apart of growing and having strength because it could be hard to accept reality. Montag has shown his growth by becoming aware of the world he lives in where books have been labeled as dangerous, but this is not true. According to Fahrenheit 451, bradbury writes “so now do you see why books are hated and feared? They show the pores in the face of life.” (83) As a fireman, Montag is exposed to a life where they must burn books and houses that carry them. Montag’s life is more than boring and unhappy until one day he meets a girl named Clarisse. Clarisse starts to show Montag new things, expands his learning, and deepens this thinking. In Fahrenheit 451, bradbury writes, “Before he could move she had put the dandelion under his chin. He drew back and she laughed.” (pg. 22) Montag starts to try a lot of new things with her but she also gets him into realizing if he's happy or not.
