Who Is John Proctor A Good Person In The Crucible

here are people who make mistakes and learn from them. These kind of people are considered good people. Good means that someone who has great qualities and is morally right. In the play The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, one character that represents a good person is John Proctor. John Proctor is a good man because he tells the truth about his affair with Abigail, cares and respects other people in Salem and sacrifices himself instead of “selling out” his friends. First, John Proctor is a good man because he tells the truth about his affair with Abigail. Proctor reveals in court that “‘A man may think God sleeps, but God sees everything’” as he confess the truth in court (220). This quote shows that Proctor feels guilty about the affair and says that God sees everything. Another quote is “‘God help me, I lusted, and there is promise in such sweat’” (221). This quote shows that Proctor admits to the affair and knows that he committed a sin. John Proctor has made a mistake, but learned from it. Proctor says “‘But who tells us Rebecca Nurse murdered seven babies by sending out her spirit on them?’” during the trial (221). This quote shows that Proctor is trying to defend Rebecca Nurse because she is his friend. Proctor helps Francis Nurse save his wife and for the sake of the people in Salem. Many people look up to Rebecca Nurse and will be troublesome if death is lay upon her. Proctor takes Francis Nurse and the people in Salem feelings into consideration.
