There were many conflicts between the whites and the native Americans. Although the native Americans had victories, it was of no help due to the massive amounts of new settlers and the government's military forces. By the 1880’s Native Americans were confined to their own lands. They were forced to live in areas that the white settlers did not want to live in.
There was a lot of political corruption. During the gilded age, the presidents did not worry about getting the public opinion or whether to have any other leadership. With the economy growing as fast as it was, the government was not able to keep up with the economy or the issues it caused. The Sherman Antitrust Act was passed so that any practices or workforces that didn’t care for free trade, were banned. There were a lot of occurring labor problems.
People had to work really hard for long hours without much economic equality. The railroad strike of 1877 questioned those labor rights.
