Faith In Christianity

What is faith? According to the Bible, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). James Strong confirms faith is the glue in the Christian belief system, because all Christians are righteous by faith in Jesus Christ whether they are Jew or Gentile (Strong, 7-9). Ephesians 2:8 states, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” How can a Christian have a balanced view of faith? First, they need to know exactly what faith means. The Greek word for faith is pistis and means the conviction of the truth of anything, belief, or in the New Testament it specifically is referring to a religious belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God …show more content…
Without unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, God, and His Word, I would not be here. My entire life has been a battle against my own body. However, “Man is a spirit; he has a soul, and he lives in a body” (Hagin, 24). Although I was not a normal child, could not eat normal foods, or function at a normal level, my spirit has always stayed strong in knowing God and His promises for my life. For, “My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:26). At age six, I was presumed by doctors to be dying, with absolutely “no hope.” But, I had a mother whose faith in God would not accept that reality or in other words she refused their presumption of fact and choose to walk by faith. According to Hagin, “Some people accept defeat in life because they don’t fully understand the Word” (p. 41). This was not the case for my mother. She was fully persuaded by the Word of God and His promises. Because of this faith, she pursued other alternatives to save my life. Ultimately, it was the ketogenic diet that gave my body health for a temporary time until God revealed the true root of the problem, Chiari Brain …show more content…
God showed me that putting faith in Him and His word is the only way to receive His promises. I had allowed myself to doubt that God could open the doors to save my life. I began believing my body over His word. And in His grace and mercy, He showed me His marvelous love. It stretched my faith and helped me understand the kind of faith I needed to live a victorious life. God used my circumstances to cultivate a faith in Him which would not be swayed by medical reports, or natural evidence. Now, I am believing by faith for a healthy child that will not have any genetic illness. I will not accept defeat, nor allow myself to doubt the promises of God because all of God’s promises are “yes” and “amen” (2 Corinthians

Several years ago, when I was a brand new nurse’s aide, I had an experience with a dying patient that changed my perspective completely. I was scheduled to be a 1:1 companion with her for a 12 hour shift. The lady had received the news the day before that she most likely not live more than another week or two. And she was very much at peace with this, when talking to throughout my shift I inquired how she could be so calm and collected. She told me that death was just the next step.…

According to the eleventh chapter of the book of Hebrews, “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen, it gives us assurance about things we cannot see” (Heb. 11:1, NIV). People apply their faith for a range of reasons:some make use of their faith for material things, while others simply exert their faith to auricularly discern God’s voice. Faith gives us both a positive declaration and confidence. On the other hand, doubt causes both fear and equivocality. Hence, fear and faith cannot co-subsist.…

Harold Kushner, a Jewish Rabbi, wrote the book “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” after the tragic death of his son at a very young age. His son, Aaron, was diagnosed with an aging disease early in life and died at his fourteenth year. To find answers to his own tragic story, Kushner wrote the book which he also targeted to help individuals substantially hurt by life either by death or other tragedies and help them find answers to their crises of faith. Through his book, Kushner wished to help individuals find solace and withstanding faith to get through such troubling times. In life, we all go through trying times, and in such moments rather than faith making us stronger, it can make us weaker and thus question God as to why such situations…

Over the years, Jewish faith has started to be lost because of the hardships faced in the holocaust. The thought of there being a god that protects them slowly diminished due to the fact they had to face all of these tortures. Many still believe in the “almighty god” that is supposed to protect you while others gave up in the “supposed god” that protects you from all of the evils of the world and give good things to those that have done nothing wrong and followed him wholeheartedly. Also, the generations to come after the holocaust would have their ideology influenced by the previous generations because of their loss in faith. Faith is what someone believes in, regardless in actually knowing in what people are putting faith into.…

It is often confused what faith is and what it is not. Indeed it is an abstract term which its definition will change depending on who you ask. Throughout the works of two authors, Faith by Terrence W. Tilley and The Essential Tillich by Paul Tillich, the term faith gets evaluated and explained in a more in depth fashion. Everyone has faith; it does not have to be a religious belief, but in fact it can be a relationship with something, a center of value, or a motive. Faith, to me, is an abstruse concept where the components of belief, hope and morality unite to form a synonymous definition.…

How My Faith Defines Who I Am Faith: having a strong belief in a religion, or an even stronger belief in a God. I personally believe in God the Father, and that he created each and every one of us in his own image. However, God is three persons, also known as the Holy Trinity, meaning there is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.…
