As slaves worked hard and cried out in pain, wealthy slave owners had the time of their lives living the “dream.” The book Uncle Tom's Cabin was an example of how slaves were treated. This caused one of the many fights between the North and the South. While the North was discouraged by the book and were disgusted how slaves were treated. The South was outraged and disagreed with the book and said slaves had a great life in the South. The Civil War was caused due to economic, political, and social differences.
The Civil War was caused because of economic issues. In document two the two maps show how the South was not producing as many goods as the North. Just like how the North was not producing as much cotton. Which resulted in the North and South depending on each other. Which did cause issues because of the Norths and Souths different opinions. Before the Kansas-Nebraska act was passed, there was the Missouri Compromise of 1820. The Missouri Compromise is what set of the boundaries between free states and slave states. It caused fights between the North and the South because the North had more land for states, while the South didn’t have much.
